ABOUT THE DOT OF RED

I thought it appropriate to explain the significance of the mysterious red dot seen on Indian women.
The mark(usually a red circle) worn in the center of the forehead is called “Bindi” . It marks the location of the third eye. This third eye gives you inner vision and spiritual wisdom.
In the science of yoga there are seven energy centers in the body.
Here is a simple explanation of each:
Root Chakra: base of spine.
it is the center of force
Sacral Charka: lower abdomen, below the nave.
it is the center of sexuality
Solar Plexus Chakra: Upper abdomen, above the nave.
it is the center of wisdom and emotion
Heart Chakra: center of chest above the heart.
It is the center of love and inner peace
Third Eye Chakra: forehead between the eyes
It is the center of power, intuition and imagination
Crown Chakra: very top of the head.
It is the center of inner and outer beauty and pure bliss.
The most important chakras is thought to be the one between the eyebrows. Putting the bindi(red dot) there is thought to prevent the loss of energy. A woman can retain energy in the body and control its power.
Traditional bindi is red and made with vermillion powder. Women taken great care to make the symbol perfectly round.
